Megan Cooper

Hi, welcome to my portfolio.

I am currently a Lecturer in Indigenous Curriculum Content within LTS at University of Southern Queensland. My areas of interest fall in to two main domains. 

The first of these domains is (broadly speaking) Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education. I have worked in the field of Indigenous Studies and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education since 2003. My work in this area has arisen out of a passion for Social Justice and a desire to be part of a national process to address the issues of Indigenous rights and equity in Australia.

The second domain is Learning and Teaching in Tertiary Education. This passion has arisen out of direct teaching and learning experiences. In part, this interest has been generated because teaching in the contested space of Indigenous Studies has led me to focus on constructivist inclusive models of teaching and learning as a way of facilitating transformative learning within such a space.

Now I have been lucky enough to be able to merge these two domains as I work with the idea of facilitating the development of inclusive curriculum to enhance student cultural competency and enhancing the cultural competency of staff through professional development.
